Fireplace Chimney Flu
Chimney Flu
Chimney flu is the pipe or passage way which runs from the top of the fireplace up through and out of the top of the chimney. In a masonry fireplace, the chimney flu is usually constructed with clay pipes that are stacked on top of one another the length of the chimney. In most fireplace inserts, the chimney flu is made out of metal. The purpose of a chimney flu is to vent the smoke safely from the fireplace up and out of the home. The photo below is a look downward into a chimney flu.
